#2 David Melville
David Melville will return as the 2 time NCHSAA 3A Cross Country State Champion, and will be up for his toughest task yet in defending it. Melville will squad off with Cameron Ponder (moved down form 4A), Haven Honeycutt and more for the NCHSAA 3A State Title this fall. Melville has been tough to beat on the cross country course throughout his high school career. Last season Melville took 3rd in the Southeast Regional at NXR and earned a spot at Nationals. He took 63rd after taking a fall early and going to the back of the field. On the track Melville was indoor and outdoor 3200 state champion and holds a PR of 9:14. Melville is super talented, and I'm sure will be ready to blast a quick time at Adidas in a few weeks to kick off his season. A fun fact that bodes well for Melville is that when in the same XC race as Ponder he has never lost to him.
