Three freshman have taken the state by storm to start the season. We have known of Kasey Dingman from her very accomplished middle school racing days, but now she finds herself at the top of the state at the high school level. She proved she was going to be elite as she finished as the top NC finisher at the Providence Cross Country Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte. She ran a personal best of 18:34.81. Anna Edwards (Calvary Baptist Day School), another freshman who was very successful in her middle school years in the NCISAA, took home the win at Bob Schilly Invitational running 18:50. Molly Barber (Myers Park), in her first career 5,000m, ran 18:52.30 to win the Carolinas Kickoff. The Carolina Kickoff has five of the 10 fastest times in the state so far this season. Among freshman girls nationally, our North Carolina trio ranks US No. 10, 19 and, 20 respectively.
