3A Mideast Girls
Maggie McCormick (Harnett Central) has been spectacular this season, winning all three races she has been in so far this season. McCormick has run 18:02 this season at Hagan Stone and currently has the second fastest time in North Carolina!
Maggie Springer (Chapel Hill) is the only other runner to have dipped under 19:00 this season and she will look to challenge McCormick at the front. There are a pack of girls all within a few seconds of the 19:00 barrier. Emily Bowbliss (Union Pines) ran 19:00.24 last week at her conference championship and will look to breakout Saturday against stellar competition. Amelia Maughan (Chapel Hill) has also run 19:00 this season. Maughan's teammates Abby Weber and Lilly Crook are both also looking to get under 19:00 for the first time.
The Chapel Hill girls have been stand out all season and will look to take home another team championship. Behind them are the East Chapel Hill, Northwood, Cedar Ridge, and Harnett Central. Depending on the official number of teams entered there will be either four or five teams qualifying for the State Championship next weekend.
