#1 Mariah Howlett
Mariah Howlett has been strong since her freshman year over the longer distances. Last year she proved she was one of the best cross country runners in North Carolina, but had an unfortunate end at states competing through injury. Last fall she ran a PR of 18:21 winning all but two races outside of states. Howlett has never captured a cross country individual title, but this year seems to be the year. On the track Howlett was very impressing winning the 2A 1600 & 3200 State title while also clocking PRs of 10:37 and 5:03. Howlett's 3200 mark is the top returning time in NC heading into the season. I think this could be a really special season for Mariah Howlett, and if everything goes well it wouldn't surprise me to at a national meet when everything comes to an end.
