Boys Teams Honorable Mentions
South Central: The transfers of Elliott and Cooper Kleckner late in track season shoots this team up the returning rankings. While the rest of the team has to step up to make some serious noise, the culture change when you add two superstars in the Kleckner's cannot be ignored. Elliott ran 15:17 over 5000m last season in a meet in Virginia, which is good for the #1 returning individual time in North Carolina.
Hoggard: Finished runner-up by 2 points to Cardinal Gibbons in the 2020 NCHSAA XC state meet. They only return three of their top seven, but the culture they have built at Hoggard proves they can rebuild this summer. The sting of a runner-up finish at the state meet has to be some extra motivation for these Vikings.
D.H. Conley: They are led by defending NCHSAA 3A East Regional champion Landen Williams and Nathan Geyer. They lost two of their top five from their regional championship team, but a strong summer could make D.H. Conley a strong contender to repeat.
