3A Mideast Boys
Ben Verchick (Union Pines) is back on the course where he posted his personal best time, and current NC #2 overall, 15:20. Verchick will be looking for his first cross country regional championship after finishing runner-up the last two seasons.
He will not be alone, however. Verchick will be challenged by George Hotelling (East Chapel Hill) and all of Chapel Hill's front pack. Chapel Hill is led by sophomore star Ben Hawley who has run 15:46 this season. The top five Chapel Hill Tigers are projected to finish in the top seven. Owen Rogers has already broken 16:00 this season for the Tigers and will look to bring teammates James Clabo and Emil Arangala with him.
Behind Chapel Hill, Verchick and Hotelling will be leading their respective squads as they look to capture a runner-up finish. Harnett Central, Northwood, Cedar Ridge, and Cape Fear are the others teams looking to finish in the top six and advance to the State Championship.
