1A Mideast Girls
The race at the front is going to be one of the best of the day, with Victoria Swepson (Research Triangle) and Amy Rosie Scott-Benson (Voyager Academy) battling for the individual title. Both girls have run under 20:00 this season with Swepson having dipped as low as 19:25!
They will not be the only two at the front, however, with defending regional and 1A State champion Caitlyn Burkett (Franklin Academy) racing for only the second time this season. Burkett has a personal best of 18:59 but we have not seen her since Jungle Run at the beginning of the season. Burkett will be racing for the first time since her commitment to UNC-Charlotte!
Swepson will have teammates McCarty Hudson and Caroline Foley looking to push to the front and fight for a top three finish.
Franklin Academy has five of the fastest ten runners so far this season and they look to show that is no fluke by claiming another team championship. Research Triangle's top three runners have the first, third, and fourth best times this season. Research Triangle will need big performances from their fourth and fifth finishers if they want a chance at the team title.
Voyager Academy is not far behind and will be joined by Raleigh Charter, Woods Charter, Roxboro Community, and Princeton as teams that are looking to secure a top five finish.
