Boys 3200m Preview
The best of the best from North Carolina are all going head to head in an early season matchup to gain momentum going into a highly competitive outdoor track season. The 13th and final heat will be a rare matchup of state champions from different classifications and leagues. This heat features NCHSAA 2A XC state champion Walter Sellers (Atkins), NCHSAA 3A XC champ Ryan Motondo (Walter Williams), NCHSAA 4A XC champ Murphy Smith, NCISAA 4A XC champ Christian Landis (Providence Day), and Texas 1A XC state champ Isaiah Billingsley (Miller Grove, TX).
Kenny Eheman (Cary Academy) has the tools to run with the front group, he ran 9:12 for the 3200m at Cary Academy's time trial. Jack Dingman (Northern Guilford) has shown his distance abilities during XC season. He ran 8:48 over 3000m at the Carolina Liberty Kickoff and 15:14 at RunningLane. Elliott Kleckner ran 9:22 for 2 mile at adidas Indoor Nationals and 15:17 for XC 5000m at RunningLane. Emmanuel Sgouros (St. John's Houston ,TX) has ran 4:12 over 1600m and is looking to run an elite 3200m. Other runners from North Carolina with a strong chance to compete for a top three finish are Wesley Larson and Caden Townshend (Weddington), Will Soule (Mt. Tabor), Justin Hayes (Panter Creek), and Miles Phillips (North Lincoln)
