Raleigh Relays Brings Four New State Leads

Girls 3200m
Sam Bush (Turpin, OH) fresh off her victory in the mile earlier in the day was poised to make another great run. She was the leader of the race for the first 800 meters. She was joined up front by Ava Dobson (St. Josephs, SC) and Natalie Tyner (Laney) who all split the first half mile in 2:36. Those three held a reasonable gap on the rest of the field but at the halfway point the chase pack caught up to the early leaders. The chase pack was led by Kaitlynn Wolfe (Blacksburg, VA), Hannah Preisser (Carrboro), and Ainsley Cooper (Reagan). Dobson led the now pack of six through the mile in around 5:18. As Cooper and Preisser began to drop off the lead pack of Dobson, Tyner, Bush, and Wolfe charged ahead. Sam Bush began to fade as the wear and tear of the earlier mile began to sink in. Tyner and Wolfe mad massive moves with just under 200 meters to go. Down the homestretch it looked as if Tyner had the advantage but over the last few meters Wolfe made the final pass of the race and secured the win in 10:35.92! Tyner holds on for 2nd place in 10:35.98. Dobson finished 3rd in 10:36.77.
