Rising Stars: Metrolina Christian Academy's Annie Miller

Miller took 3rd in the championship race at Hare & Hounds

This week's rising star in North Carolina is Metrolina Christian Academy's Annie Miller.

Miller, a sophomore, has gotten off to an electric start to her 2022 cross country season after a strong 2022 outdoor track season. In the spring, she was runner-up in the 800m at the NCISAA DI State Championship. That day, she ran a personal best of 2:18.84, which was NC freshman class No. 2 and NC No. 29 overall on the season. She also holds a 1-mile best of 5:12.07 and a 3,200m best of 11:55.82.

Last fall as a freshman, Miller took 4th in the NCISAA 4A XC State Championship and 1st in the MAC Championships.

As an 8th-grader, Miller was 17th in the XC state meet, and went on to place 7th in the 800m that spring.

Now, Miller has established herself as one of the top competitors in the state. And she still has two more years to build on.

She ran her personal best and current NC sophomore class No. 1 18:00.96 at the Wilmington Beach Blast, where she took 3rd. She went on to place 3rd in the championship field at Hare & Hounds a few weekends ago.

Miller is currently ranked No. 1 among the NCISAA, but there is a lot of racing left to be done this season to decide who the queen of the NCISAA truly is. Only two of the current top 10 times in the NCISAA belong to seniors, so this state championship winner coming up at the end of the month at Hagan Stone will hold some long-standing bragging rights.
