Presenting our newest feature: The Future Stars Series. In this series, we'll take a look at one freshman or sophomore a week that is making a big impact early in their career, and is showing that they are a star in the making.

Contentnea-Savannah Middle School 6th grader Cassidee Fraser is this week's North Carolina Rising Star!

She was a forced to be reckoned with Saturday at the NCRunners Middle School Elite Invitational. She ran the 100m prelims to kick off her day and won her heat in 13.04. Her time was the 3rd fastest qualifying mark of the morning.

In the 100m finals she exploded out of the blocks and took home the win in 12.61. Her winning time is just a tenth of a second off her personal best.

When time came for the 200m later that day she was more than ready. The field dealt with a -0.8 wind reading, but that was no problem for Fraser. She powered home and secured the victory, running a new personal best 25.98. She is undefeated in the 200m this season.
