North Carolina Future Stars: Cuthbertson's Sophomore Trio

Presenting our newest feature: The Future Stars Series. In this series, we'll take a look at one freshman or sophomore a week that is making a big impact early in their career, and is showing that they are a star in the making.

Cuthbertson sophomores Charlotte BellStella Kermes, and Justine Preisano are next up on our weekly future stars series!

This trio looks like they could be the next stars in the long line of elite Cuthbertson runners we've seen over the last decade.

During cross country season Kermes finished 9th at the NCHSAA 4A state meet, earning all-state honors, while Bell and Preisano were not far off finishing 16th and 17th respectively. The trio helped Cuthbertson capture the 2021 team title.

At the NCHSAA 4A Indoor State Championship, Kermes took home the win in the 1,000m run, clocking a NC Sophomore Class No. 2 all-time, 2:54.76! Bell was right behind her finishing 3rd in the 1,000m, running NC Sophomore Class No. 4 all-time, 2:56.75.

In the loaded 4A 1,600m, Kermes and Preisano were just off all-state finishes, finishing 5th and 7th respectively.

Cuthbertson went on to yet again take home the team title.

In the full one mile run, Bell sits NC Indoor Sophomore Class No. 3 all-time, Kermes No. 5, and Preisano No. 6.

Look for them to all be competing in a few weeks at one of the indoor national meets, in the mile run, as well as the 4x800m and 4xMile relays.
