Last year at New Balance Outdoors Hillside with Emmaya Waters, Alysia Johnson, Ashlan Bowdry and Jessica Wright set the North Carolina Outdoor State Record of 3:43.92. (Wakefield holds the overall state record of 3:43.01 from the 2012 indoor season)
All four of Hillside's legs return for the 2018 season and will be looking improve on that mark this season. We might not be able to see their true potential in the event until the 3A State Meet or New Balance Outdoors, but certainly keep these girls on your radar this outdoor season. They ran 3:57.83 this indoor season, and certainly have a ways to go if they want to take down their state record. But it's certainly hard to find a field where the winning time is in the low 3:40s!
