State Records That Could Fall This Outdoor Season

Boys High Jump

When I was a sophomore in High School I attended the Mooresville Invitational and got to witness Tanner Anderson (East Burke) clear 7-3.25 to break Jesse Williams' (Broughton) state record of 7-3. We've had some strong high jumpers since, but  none have cleared 7-0 since.

This indoor season Charles (Omar) McBride broke the High Jump State Record jumping 7-0.25, and the junior will have Anderson's 7-3.25 to aim for over the next two years.  But he won't be the only one capable of taking the record down.

Randolph Ross (Garner) jumped 6-10.75 indoors and will be aiming for 7 feet soon, then will be able to focus on battling with McBride for the outdoor state record.

Luckily McBride and Ross are in the same county, so we should be able to see them face off often over the next two years.
