Girls NCHSAA 1A/2A Indoor State Championships Preview: Can North Rowan dethrone Cummings?

Relays

4x200

T.W. Andrews comes in with the top seed of 1:44.75, 3 seconds ahead of second seed Cummings, but are in a pickle as three of their likely legs, McKnight, Simmons, and Barnes are entered in the max. of 4 events.  Since all will likely score in each event it seems like they'll pull them out of the relay and hope to score with an alternate squad.  This could leave the door open for Cummings who are in the same situation with Kenyae Majors, but with have the Moore sisters available for a 4th event.  Cummings won this event last season in 1:47.19 and only graduated one of the three legs.

4x400

Croatan has a ton of strong middle distance runners that will look to propel them to a title in the 4x400.  The top mark in the NCHSAA 1A/2A is Gray Stone Day at 4:15.58, but they are not entered in the event and only are entered in the 4x800 and 55mH on the girls side.  CRroatan has run 4:20 this indoor season.  Rosewood ranks 3rd in 1A/2A and are also not entered in the event. Lexington is the second fastest seed at 4:25.18 behind Croatan's 4:20.00. T.W. Andrews and Polk County will also be in the mix for the win.

4x800

Croatan will look to hold off First Flight's strong anchor of Alex Rodman in the girls 4x800.  Croatan comes in as the top seed at 10:23.29 and First Flight second at 10:30.14.  First Flight will look to keep Rodman in striking distance of Croatan's anchor, likely Kaleigh Hanson, so they can give her enough time to reel them in.  Brevard have a lot of strong distance runners and could be an upset winner in this event.
