Girls Sprints/Hurdles
Girls 55m Dash
Leah Bolden (HP Central) has been dominant compared the her 4A competition this indoor season running a 7.03 under FAT Timing, .16 seconds better than the rest of the field. She'll have her sights set on running under 7 tomorrow and claiming her first individual state title. Nia Judkins (Athens Drive) and Bria Bass (South View) will look to upset the heavy favorite tomorrow.
Girls 55m Hurdles
This is a big time battle between Akira Rhodes (Mallard Creek), Sierra Fletcher (Southeast Raleigh) and Veronique Woodson (Hoke County). Rhodes is the defending champion and has run NC#2 8.13 this indoor season. Fletcher has battled some injuries, but is back and ready to fight for her first individual crown. Fletcher ran 8.19 last year indoors, Woodson has a seasons best of 8.30 in what should be a fun final to watch.
Girls 500
Only 7 girls hit the qualifying standard, which makes you wonder how they'll split up heats. My guess is 3 then 4 in the fast heat, which would leave one of the favorites Kyna Robinson (Southeast Raleigh) out of the fast section. Maya Singletary (Hoke County) is the defending champion and has run 1:14.36 as she'll go for the state record of 1:13.02 set in 2016 by McKinley McNeill of Parkland. Singletary is NC#2 All-Time in this event at 1:13.47 at last years indoor state meet. High Point Central teammates TiCoiya Gidderon and Monzerad Creary also will be battling with Singletary in the fast section. These girls are 800 runners outdoors, but are very strong in the 500 indoors. If Robinson can get in the fast section I think she posses as the biggest threat to Singletary as she beat her from the slower section two weeks ago in the RHFitPro Elite 400.
Girls 300
Leah Bolden and Maya Singletary will square off head to head as they have equal PRs on the year of 40.25. Bolden will have a lot more rest than Singletary that'll likely have 20-30 minutes between her 500 and 300. Also doubling back will by Kyna Robinson who has run 40.27. Mekyll Robinson (West Meck) has a PR of 40.38 and will be a contender in this event as well, and will likely only be running the 4x200 prior. We should see a few of these girls under 40 seconds here tomorrow.
