What a difference a week makes. Last week, everyone was concerned whether or not there would be a Maymont festival given the damage in the area after Hurricane Isabel roared through. But streets were cleared, and on Friday power was restored in the start/finish area to supply the timers, food stands and bands.

Neither Hurricane Isabel nor an additional 5 inches of rain Monday night has thwarted plans for Richmond Sportsbacker's Ukrops XC Festival at Richmond's Maymont Park this weekend. Kicking off on Friday night will be the college and adult men and women's 18-24 and 25-29 bracket open races. Then on Saturday morning a lengthy list of area high schools will face off following opening events for elementary and middle schools.

At this Saturday's Great Meadows Invitational, AAA is heavily represented particlarly from the Northern and Northwest Regions augmented with Midlothian from the Central Region and Green Run, Ocean Lakes and Kellam from Tidewater coming up.
