Senior Spotlight: Pegah Kamrani

The East Chapel Hill senior has a habit of running her best at the state meet, and this year's effort was spectacular.

Pegah Kamrani was a good runner in the fall of 2011, but very few expected the leap forward she has taken since then.  The East Chapel Hill senior, however, knew that she had been held back by injuries, and she believed there was more for her.  After a strong spring track season she was able to train well all summer, and the results was last weekend's 2nd-place finish in the NCHSAA 4A State Meet.  Interestingly, Pegah's best time for each of the last three cross country seasons has come in the state meet; that must come from a combination of great preparation and the perfect mindset, embracing the pressure of the meet and rising to the occasion.  I can't wait to see what she produces in track season and in college, because I'm sure she hasn't reached her full potential yet.
