The defending NCISAA 4A cross country state champion Christ School Greenies come in as the No. 3 team on the pre-season team countdown!
They return five of their top seven, including the top two finishers at the cross country state meet in Rocky Hansen and Dawson Reeves. Reeves came in as the No. 4 runner on the individual countdown and Hansen's ranking has not yet been revealed.
Hansen and Reeves have as strong a case as anyone as the top 1-2 punch in the state. But behind them, is where their depth really shows.
They tallied 35 points as a team in 2021 to win the state title. Two other returners in Kahzi Sealey and Luke Parrish had phenomenal track seasons that sets them up for success this fall.
Sealey, a junior, was 20th at last year's NCISAA XC state meet, where he ran a personal best of 16:58. On the track he ran 4:31 for the 1-mile run and 1:58.08 in the 800m. In the half-mile race he placed 6th at the NCISAA DI State Championship.
Parrish, a senior, focused more on the longer track events this spring. He placed 8th at the state meet in the 1,600m. He went on to run a personal best later in the day of 9:48.82 in the 3,200m to place 7th.
His 1,600m time of 4:27.63 earned him a runner-up finish at the CAA Conference Championship.
Eyob Gill only raced twice during outdoor season, but he was 18th last fall at the NCISAA XC state meet.
Will Peeler had a strong season as well, running 4:39.50 for the 1,600m where he placed 16th at the state meet.
As a team, they finished runner-up at the NCISAA DI Outdoor Track and Field State Championship.
The Greenies are looking as strong as ever, and with Hansen and Reeves at the helm, they could go down as one of the greatest NCISAA teams in state history.
