Weddington's Elizabeth Ritter is No. 6 on our pre-season cross country countdown!

Ritter is heading into her senior season ready to drop some crazy times and help her Warrior squad go after the NCHSAA 4A state title.

She was 8th at the 2021 cross country state meet, and helped her squad finish runner-up. At the NCHSAA 4A Midwest Regional, Ritter was 4th, and at the Southern Carolina Conference Championship, she finished 2nd. 

Her personal best in cross country comes from the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championship where she ran 17:47. Her time is NC No. 5 among returning athletes this fall, and it is the No. 2 time for her class. 

As a sophomore, she was 6th at the cross country state meet, as well. 

On the track, Ritter was arguably more impressive. She was 4th in the 3,200m at the NCHSAA 4A Indoor state meet before going on to place 2nd in the event outdoors. Her state meet time of 10:50.23 is a personal best which ranks her No. 8 among returners. She had four performances under 11:00 on the season.

She also ran 5:07.99 in the 1,600m at the Carolina Distance Carnival.

Ritter capped off her track season with a national title at adidas Outdoor Nationals in the 5,000m clocking 17:40.88.
