XC Top Ten Countdown: Girls' No. 8 Kaitlyn Obremski


Claiming the No. 8 position on our pre-season cross country countdown is Topsail's Kaitlyn Obremski. Obremski, a rising senior, took 4th in the 3,200m at the NCHSAA 4A state championship clocking a personal best time of 10:52.70 Her time from the state meet ranks her NC No. 10 on the season among returning athletes. 

During cross country season last fall, she won the Mideastern Conference Cross Country Championships in a season best 17:54. She did not run in the regional or state meets. She won all but one race that she competed in last fall, including the Hagan Stone XC Classic. 

She also took 10th at the NCHSAA 4A Indoor state meet in the 1,600m.

As a sophomore, Obremski was 3rd at the NCHSAA 3A state meet in cross country, runner-up in the 3,200m at the indoor state meet, and runner-up in the 1,600m at the outdoor state meet. 

Her 5,000m personal best comes from the NCHSAA 3A East Regional from her freshman season where she ran 17:30.95. She has broken 18:00 eight times during her sophomore and junior season. 

Heading into her senior season, Obremski has been on the state's radar since her freshman. Now is her chance to solidify her legacy as one of the greats in the state.
