Ashley Lindsey (Currituck County) leads the field in shot put by nearly five feet! Her personal best of 40-5 is all classification NC No. 2 this season. On the boys' side the Croatan duo of AJ Matas and Will Rouse will face off for the state title. Matas holds a personal best of 50-3 while Rouse sits at 49-8.75.
Christian Drawhorn will again go against the scoreboard in the wheelchair shot put. He is chasing the 3A state meet record of 12-6.
Alaya Gillespie leads the field in the long jump with her 17-5.5 leap. She is the only girl in the field to clear 17-0 this season.
There were only three qualifiers in the boys long jump: Cameron Snead (West Johnston), Donnell Privette (Franklinton), and Amir Sanders (White Oak). Snead is the only one to clear 21-0, having gone 21-2, but the other two are within five inches of the 21-0 mark.
In the triple jump, Snead once again leads the field with a 45-0.50 leap. He is the only one to jump over 43-0 in the field.
Alexis Willis (Stuart Cramer) is going after the 3A state meet record in the triple jump, as her 37-11.50 is less than a foot off the mark.
Sophomore Tyler Collins (West Carteret) leads the field in high jump with a season best of 5-6. Two other girls have cleared 5-2 this season: Lydia Sillies (First Flight) and Madison Bryant (Union Pines).
Carland Jones (E.E. Smith) has the top high jump on the boys' side, having cleared 6-1 this season. Three other boys have cleared 6-0: Matas, Emanuel Williams (Central Academy of Technology), and Seallio Alphonse (Rocky Mount).
Alyssa Cooley (West Carteret) and Chloe Soorus (North Lincoln) have both cleared 10-0 in pole vault this season.
In the boys pole vault, Jack Daffron (Croatan) leads the way with a 12-6 leap this season. Jacob Murphy (Oak Grove) and Zander Youmans (West Henderson) have both cleared 12-0 this season.
