NCHSAA 4A Girls Indoor State Championships Preview

Relays

4x800

Reagan girls come in as NC#1 with a 9:37.83, just narrowly ahead of Green Hope at 9:40.97.  Rocky River girls have also posted strong 4x800s all season and have a best mark of 9:46.  Reagan have their 3 distance studs entered into 3 events, so we won't know until they're on the start line if they'll contest an A team for the 4x800.  A lot of teams entered have no ran close to their potential in this event and it could be anybodies race once everyone is on the start line.

4x400

Southeast Raleigh girls threw down an impressive 3:56.64 as we saw FIVE girls teams under the previous state meet record.  This year High Point Central comes in as the big favorite after posting the NC#3 All-Time mark of 3:51.27.  But if you're familiar with Southeast Raleigh and Parkland's sprint programs you know that they're no going to make it easy for High Point Central.  All three teams enter the meet with a mark under 4 minutes.  Hillside, Rocky River and Mallard Creek will also be in the final section in what should be an exciting finish to the 4A State Championships.  The team battle could very well come down to this point in the meet as well.

4x200

Southeast Raleigh dominated this field last year running 1:41.58, three seconds faster than High Point Central at 1:44.94.  Southeast only returns one member from that squad while both High Point Central and Parkland return 3 out of 4 legs.  Despite that Southeast Raleigh has run just as fast this season with a best mark of 1:41.66, but its High Point Central who hold the NC#1 mark coming into the meet at 1:40.66.  It will be an epic three team battle and a big swing in the team battle on the girls side.
