The Apex girls team is very similar to the boys team that also came in at #6, where they graduate a lot of key runners, but still return a lot of depth in their program.  They lose number 1 runner Allison Rosen who was a 5:17 1600 girl and 18:35 5K runner last season. But they bring back Calli Parlier who really came onstrong at the end of last season and finished 16th at the 4A XC State meet last season.  Parlier is a rising Junior who is coming off of her first season of running for Apex.  On the track she focused more on the 800 and just narrowly missed the state meet in that as she placed 5th in the region.  But for someone who hasn't ran before she certainly didn't look like it last season.

Sarah Hajnos will be a senior leader for this Apex squad and came along really well for them last season.  She cut her XC PR down from 22:38 to 19:05 last season in a break out year.  She also ran 5:29 on the track last season and was pretty consistent at that time throughout the indoor and outdoor season.  Hofmeister was strong for Apex at the end of the season and placed 31st at the 4A State Meet in her first year being a top 7 runner for her school.  If she could be in that type of form all season it'll be huge for Apex.

Josie McGee developed very nicely on the track running 2:20 for the 800 and 5:34 for 1600.  She didn't make the state meet squad last season and will be hungry to do so this fall.  She cut her time down by over a minute at their conference meet showing she has the potential to be strong on the XC course.  Jenna Stevens, Madison Owings, Abby Farrell, and Lindsay Hayden will be contenders to be in the top 5 this year for Apex. Farrell and Hayden are just coming off their first year of competitive running and had much better track seasons than XC season last year and could be big this fall.  Owings made a big jump in XC from being a 24 minute girl to a 21 minute girl and continued that success on the track running 5:35 for 1600.  The rising senior will be a big help to this squad if her track success translates to the XC course.
