Northern Guilford ranks 35th in the returning rankings from the 2015 XC Season, and losing Tyler Robakiewicz will hurt them as he was a solid #2 for them last season.  But when you have David Melville, who is in contention to win any XC race he is in, as your #1, it's a great start for a team.

Owen States had a very strong sophomore track season running 4:33 and will provide a solid #2 spot for his team.  A thing I like about the Northern Guilford team is that from 3-7 they have a lot of competition amongst themselves.  And with the success of David Melville it has brought a ton of inspiration to the program.  Little brother Benny Melville is definitely hungry for a strong sophomore season, and has those good Melville genes, and like David is better as the distance gets longer.

Also, looking at courses Northern Guilford run, they aren't the fastest courses in the state, so their times don't all reflect their true potential.  Their home course is one of the tougher in the state so training on that multiple times a week prepares them for the rough conditions cross country can hold.  Coach Ngo has always kept Northern Guilford as a strong distance program, and I wouldn't expect any different in 2016.
