NCISAA 3A State Meet Finish - 1st

Cary Academy return their entire top 7 except for their #4 from last season Emma Ehrhardt.  Last year they were able to win the NCISAA 3A State Title and come back this years as favorites to repeat.  They return the state champion as well in Sarah Bodmer who will be one of the top overall runners in the state this season.  Bodmer really came on strong at the end of last season where she ran extremely well at her conference meet running 18:19, then 18:37 at states, and 18:20 at the NXN Southeast Regional.  She quietly was one of the top runners in the state last year and will make some noise at the top of the rankings as he heads into her senior year.

Emily Lane had a really strong track season running 5:15 being apart of the 1-2-3 finish at the 3A outdoor state meet last spring.  Lane is heading into her senior year where she has finished of 13th, 5th, and 4th at the NCISAA 3A State XC meet.  Lane will be a strong #2 for Cary Academy once again this fall.  Athina Zodl is a rising junior who is coming off her first year of running for CA.  Zodl came on strong at the end of the XC season where she took 4th at conference and 7th at states.  She didn't have as strong of a track season only running in a handful of races, but should be strong once again at the end of this XC season.

Grace Goetz and Kate Park are the returning #4 and 5 for Cary Academy this season and are still young going into their sophomore and junior season respectively.  Goetz was 6th outdoors in the 3200 running 11:51.  But in middle school she finished 9th at the XC State Championships running 19:48.  Compared to her previous season and outdoor season it doesn't seem like she was at 100% during the XC season.  Just when you think Cary Academy doesn't have any depth they have Olivia Frazier who is a junior who won the 1600 at NCISAA 3A over teammate Sarah Bodmer running 5:09.  If they can bring in Frazier and her track success translates to the XC course they have a baller top 4 runners this XC season.  They also have Elizabeth George who will be a sophomore that didn't run XC last fall.  George had success on the track running 5:49 and 12:36 and if she is running cross will be a contender to be a top 5 girl this fall. For a school that only had 10 girls on the XC squad last year to return a team this good say a ton about their program.
