This will only be Apex Friendship's second year as a school, and they don't have a full senior class for this season either. In 2015 their squad was made up of entirely freshman and sophomores. Thought I believe next year is where Apex Friendship can challenge to be a top team, I think this is the year they put themselves on the map. Wesley Provost really came together well for the Patriots. He ran 4:28 and 16:16 lasts season and will be hungry to dip under 16 minutes this season. He is the leader for this young program and his success early on has been a huge confidence boost for the team.
Alex Atterberry came along very well in the outdoor season. He ran 4:34 and 2:01 in what seems to be his first year of running. Atterberry proved he has the potential to run times similar to Provost. His jump down to the low 16s is exactly what this team needs to take them to the next level. He did start off his last XC season running in the high 19s, so progressing all the way down to 17:11 shows he has a lot of untapped potential on the XC course.
Ryan Cunningham had a very strong season last year for the Patriots. He cut off 2 minutes from his PR from his freshman season at Apex as he ran 17:08. Things really clicked for him in his first year at AF, and I'm not even sure how long the XC team was together before the season as they were a new school. So they all could have come into 2015 on a short summer training. Cole Bouquin and Jake Sidddiqui will look to be the 4/5 for AF again this season. But they will be challenged by Cameron Adair who was ahead of them on the track and is entering his first XC season. Adair was a sub 5 miler as a freshman and could be in for a big cross country season. Incoming freshman could really make an impact on this young AF team and they'll certainly be interesting to watch this season. If they could qualify for the 4A state meet this season it would be a huge step for the 2nd year program.
