Zach Farmer got his start in throwing in a bit of an unusual way; it was his sophomore year when he just-so-happened to stumble upon Hunt High School's throws coaches at work in the discus ring, sparking his interest in the event. Up until that point, Zach's athletic focus was wrestling. Once he picked up a discus, however, it was all throws from that point on. For the three years that he's been representing Hunt's Track and Field team, he's been the dedicated athlete that any coach would want to work with, putting in work both at practice and on his own. His efforts especially began to pay off within the past year when he set a PR of nearly 30 feet in the discus for a mark of 156' 10". He just recently set a shot put PR of 52' 5.5". His recent high-school successes have afforded him the opportunity to begin a collegiate throwing career with the East Carolina Pirates next year. Keep an eye out for Zach this outdoor season for more big marks to come!
