Being part of a team that has a rich history of excellence can be difficult when it leaves you competing for a chance to represent your team in one its strongest, deepest events. Lashonda Tate of Cummings finds herself in a similar position, but she handles it with the greatest grace; in our chat with Lashonda, she tells us that it isn't so much about competing with your teammates as it is about showing up and doing things right. This humble approach of hers has allowed her to exercise leadership among her fellow teammates; whenever she speaks up, her words are always heard and respected. As she continues to progress and represent her school in each of her events, she keeps focus on her contribution to the Cummings legacy and on her future in collegiate track and field.
