Emily Boger got her start in running like many other multi-talented athletes; she had always played basketball and softball, but once she was under the direction of her high school coaches she dropped those to focus on running. Under the guidance of two great coaches who have always served as prime motivators, Emily progressed over her first two years and ended her sophomore outdoor track season with some of her most satisfying performances to date. In the summer to follow, however, her running career was interrupted when she was found to have a spinal tumor. After undergoing the necessary surgeries to clear her of the cancer, she started on the long road to recovery and has been healthy and on the move since. Through her most frustrating and challenging months, she continued to put forth maximum efforts in full appreciation of her health and running abilities. Now the Ledford senior is dropping PR's and preparing for her best races yet at the indoor and outdoor state championship meets.
