Let's face it - this has been a down season overall for North Carolina, due in large part to the weather. Cold temperatures and rain have washed out far more practices and meets this spring than in any season I can remember, and as a result our state has not produced nearly as many national-caliber performances as it has in recent years. That ended this weekend, first with a very strong NCHSAA 3A state meet on Friday, and then with an absolute barn-burner of a 4A meet Saturday. You couldn't even look away from the track for a single event during the afternoon without missing a nationally-ranked PR from an established elite athlete or a breakthrough performance from a new star. My thumbs are still sore from trying to keep up on Twitter! Let's get right to the huge number of highlights, then.
