Performance List
Highlights
-
The Cummings girls win 64-60 over Monroe, while North Brunswick's boys scored 53 to defeat Currituck County by 12.
-
Girls MVP Malia Ellington (Community School of Davidson) anchored her team to 4th place in the 4x800, then set about winning all the rest of the distance races. Despite having very short turnaround between events, she produced excellent times of 4:58.43, 2:59.72, and 11:27.96.
-
Boys MVP Isaiah Moore (Cummings) won the 55 hurdles (7.55) and the long jump (23' 0.5"), and he also finished second in the high jump (6' 6"). He was credited with 42' 11" in the triple jump in the results, but there is still a question pending about that.
-
Reneazia Collins (Monroe) won the 55 Dash (7.24) and the 500 (1:19.09), and she also finished second in the 55 Hurdles (8.44). Unfotunately, due to the brutally fast pace of the meet, she was forced to run the 300 only 15 minutes after the 500, and was unable to perform up to her standards. This may have cost Monroe the team title, but there is no way to know that for sure.
-
Hunter Welborn (Starmount) jumped 5' 6" to win the high jump, equaling her NC #2 mark. Then she posted a new PR of 36' 5" in the triple jump, taking a second win.
-
Kayla Moore (Cummings) jumped 18' 3" NC #2 to win the long jump, and she claimed the 55 Hurdles title by running a new PR of 8.20 US #20. She also finished 4th in the 300, though she did not score in the triple jump.
-
Alex Cooke (North Surry) joined the 40-foot club while winning the shot put. Her final mark was 40' 7.75".
