2023

Apex Lions' Relays

MEET INFORMATION:

Awards: There will be trophies for the first, second, and third place teams in the men's and women's competition. Medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in the field events and all relay events, while the fourth through eighth place finishers will receive ribbons. There will be specialized awards for the top three finishers in the premier events, medals for the fourth through sixth place finishers in the premier events, and ribbons for the 7th and 8th place finishers in the premier events.

Facilities: The Apex High School track is an 8-lane rubberized surface, as are the runways for the jumps and vault. No spikes may be worn that are longer than 1/4 inch. The shot put and discus circles are concrete.

Sanction: Sanction has been obtained from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. All National Federation rules will be followed for the conduct of this meet.

Declaration:All entries should be confirmed or scratched from the meet at the coaches meeting between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. All entries that have been accepted in the premier races must be confirmed by 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the meet or they will be scratched in order to allow an alternate to compete. There will be no substitutions for athletes entered in individual events.

Seeding: All events will be seeded according to your entry submission. Please make sure that you read the policies for the field events, as we are trying to streamline that process and keep the field event numbers manageable. You may use times or distances from the indoor season for seeding purposes. Please contact Coach Cooper if you are doing that so that he can verify those marks. Please be accurate in submitting times for your relays, as the success of the meet depends on creating competitive heats. The meet director reserves the right to accept or deny entries if there is a question as to the legitimacy of the submitted mark.

Concessions: Concessions will be on sale throughout the day through the efforts of the Apex Lions' Club. T-shirts will also be on sale at the concession stand.

Entry Procedure: All entries will be done on-line through ncrunners (MileSplit). The events listed below will be contested at this meet. There is no qualifying standard for the relays (please submit an accurate time so that your team will be seeded properly). The field events are limited to no more than 2 entries per school, but only the number of athletes listed below will be accepted. We did away with the standards in the field events in 2022, but we are limiting those entries to a set number of contestants. Entering your athlete does not guarantee them a spot in the meet. One entry request per school is allowed for the premier races, but only the top 8 verified entries will be accepted in the 100 and high hurdle races and the top 12-16 verified entries will be accepted in the 1600-meter run. We will make the decision as to the number of entries in the 1600 once we see the times entered for those events.
