Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Zion Coulson, Northeast Guilford (North Carolina): Won the shot put at the NCHSAA 5A State Championship with a throw of 63-9.5, placing first among 15 competitors. Also placed second in the discus with a mark of 181-0.
Chase McCullough, Hickory Ridge (North Carolina): Captured the discus title at the NCHSAA 7A State Championship with a winning throw of 189-10. Also competed in the shot put, finishing fifth with a mark of 52-5.75.
Joshua Cooper, Willow Spring (North Carolina): Clocked 1:50.45 to win the 800 meters at the NCHSAA 8A State Championship, making him the top junior in North Carolina in the event.
Liam Kinken, South Mecklenburg (North Carolina): Posted a winning time of 46.54 in the 400 meters at the NCHSAA 8A State Championship, establishing himself as the state's top junior in the event. He also ran 21.50 for second place in the 200 meters.
Alexander Chapman-Evans, Enloe (North Carolina): Turned in a multi-event performance at the NCHSAA 8A State Championship, winning the triple jump with a leap of 51-6. He also placed second in the long jump at 24-0 and took third in the high jump, clearing 6-4. Additionally competed in the 110m hurdles, running 14.97.
