Cuthbertson girls broke the North Carolina 1600m Sprint Medley Relay on Friday at the VA Showcase in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The 1600m SMR goes 200m-200m-400m-800m and the Cavaliers team consisted of Miranda Watts and Marissa Watts on the 200m legs, Tatiana Blake on the 400m leg and Charlotte Bell on the 800m anchor.
The Watts sisters got the stick around through the two opening 400m legs in the lead splitting 52.91. Blake clocked a 60.28 for her 400m leg to hold a slight lead over the field where Bell brought it home in 2:14.81 solo to just narrowly dip under Cary's State Record from 2015 New Balance Indoor Nationals where they ran 4:08.10. Cuthbertson's winning time was just .08 seconds faster as they ran 4:08.02.
