Jay M Robinson senior Cameron Tucker set a new North Carolina 300m State Record Wednesday at the NCHSAA 5A Indoor State Championships running a 32.75 to win by over two seconds.

Tucker also set a personal best earlier in the meet of 6.29 to win the 55m Dash and anchored Robinson's 4x200m and 4x400m which both won state titles running 1:30.27 and 3:24.72.  His 20 individual points plus 20 relay points would also help lead Jay M Robinson to a team title scoring 78 points over Franklin's 46 and Croatan's 44.

He becomes the second North Carolina boy to break 33 seconds over 300m and betters Cameron Rose's (Hickory Ridge, 2020) previous record of 32.84 set at the VA Showcase in 2020.  Rose's state record stood as US#7 All-Time Indoors prior to today, which is now US#8 as Tucker moves to be tied for US#5 All-Time.

Tucker opened the season stronger than ever setting a new personal best and a top mark in the country in his debut over 300m running 33.21 at Tryon #2 in early January. As a junior Tucker held a best mark of 35.30 over 300m and took third at the NCHSAA 3A Indoor State Championships.

He'd then travel to the VA Showcase where he was in the second fastest heat in a loaded field, which he won that'd finish 3rd overall running 33.38.  He'd take third at an equally strong field at the Millrose Games in New York City in 33.52.

Tucker really came on during the track season last year over 200m and 400m winning the NCHSAA 3A State Championships setting personal best in both events of 20.92 and 47.22 to earn his first state titles.  We likely haven't seen the last of him on the indoor track with nationals coming up in March where he'll contest the 200m or 400m and potentially break his outdoor PRs from a year ago while contending for national titles!
