Girls Most Improved - JaMeesia Ford (Jack Britt)
This was a hard choice, but Ford's breakout from local-area star to national superstar made Ford our choice for most-improved. Do we go with the biggest time jump, or is the jump from local star to national star worth the nod? This year, we thought that Ford's rise to national stardom made her worthy of Most Improved.
In the last year, she turned into one of the most dominant 400m runners in the country. She was NC No. 2 52.60 in the 400m this season.
Ford won three state championships at the NCHSAA 4A Outdoor State Championship, sweeping the 100m-200m-400m. In 2022, she placed 2nd, 7th, and 3rd in those three events, respectively. She ran two personal bests this season, running 11.34 in the 100m and 23.06 from 200m.
