Girls MVP - Shawnti Jackson
Shawnti Jackson was unstoppable this season, and made her North Carolina Greatest of All-Time case pretty hard to argue with. She took her time getting healthy knowing she could very well be running deep into the summer. It paid off.
During indoor season, she ran her second national record. This time, in the 300m. Her time of 36.63 at the VA Showcase got her a win and her name in the record books once again. She ran an indoor national record of 6.67 in the 55m at the 2022 Millrose Games.
On the track during outdoor season, Jackson shattered the high school national record in the 100m (10.89) and broke the North Carolina state record in the 200m (22.70), on top of capturing three individual state championships, a Penn Relays win, a Brooks PR win, a Music City Carnival win, and a NY Grand Prix win.
She is currently a top three prep in the country in all three sprint events. She went undefeated in finals as well, taking home fifteen wins during outdoor season . Jackson really put in the work to get her fitness where she wanted it to be and it showed, as she set personal bests in all three of her events this season. She ran 10.89 (100m), 22.70 (200m) and 52.13 (400m).
She qualified out of the first round in the 100m at the USATF National Championship at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. She will run in the semi-finals later this weekend.
Jackson is headed to Arkansas in the fall to join a loaded sprint program in hopes of achieving even more on the collegiate level.
