I'Ja Walter (Olympic) - 200m
Wednesday's Hough Meet #1 had a ton of action! It was headlined by Walter's new NC No. 1 mark in the 200m: 24.30. Walter was 4th at the NCHSAA 4A Indoor State Championship in the 300m.
Akala Garrett (Albemarle) - 400m
The Timberwolf Invitational from Saturday delievered some big performances from Garrett, D'Anna Cotton, and Jonathan Paylor. The Albermarle hurdler focused on the flat 400m and it paid off in a season best and NC No. 1 time of 55.78.
Hannah Riley (Mount Tabor) - 800m
Just a day before the Mount Tabor Mile & Throwing Thunder, the senior tackled the 800m aggressively, and ran a personal best and NC No. 1 of 2:14.47.
Dawson Reeves (Christ School) - 1,600m
Out in Cullowee, North Carolina, Reeves set the track on fire. He led a Christ School 1-2-3 finish alongside Kahzi Sealey and Luke Parrish. Reeves and Sealey are currently NC No. 1 & No. 3.
Gabriel Schmid (Orange) - 3,200m
Schmid took to the track on the campus of NC State University to race a loaded field in the high school 3,200m. He made a late charge for the win over Jake Liebert (Wando, SC), but ran out of real estate. He clocked a personal best, school record, and NC No. 1 9:06.93.
Mary Bonner Dalton (Myers Park) - 3,200m
Donner shot out to the front early on at Raleigh Relays with NC State signee Kate Putman (Cicero, NY). Dalton continued to power around the oval, and Putman couldn't hang on over the last few laps. Dalton clocked an outdoor personal best, NC No. 1 on the season, and NC No. 6 all-time outdoors: 10:23.18. Dalton's overall best in the 3,200m comes from The VA Showcase this winter, where she ran 10:20.72 indoors.
Xavier Branker (Ardrey Kell) - 300mH
The defending 110H/300H NCHSAA 4A state champion was at it again this weekend at the Weddington Invitational. He took the win in both the hurdle events, and clocked a NC No. 1 time of 38.39 in the 300m hurdles.
Statesville Girls 4x100m
Statesville finished 13th at the 2022 NCHSAA 3A state championship in the 4x100m. But they proved in 2023 they are one of the elite teams to beat. They ran 47.56 at the Hickory Home Meet #1.
Croatan Boys 4x400m
They ended the Weddington Invitational with their second relay NC No. 1 performance of the weekend. They ran 3:21.77 to get the win and are the current NC No. 1 by almost 3-seconds.
Croatan Boys 4x800m
Friday night at the Weddington Invitational was the perfect time for Croatan to dip under 8:00. They are the first team under 8:00 for the season. Their current NC No. 1 time is 7:58.93. They won the meet by over 30-seconds.
