Carolina Distance Carnival Preview

Girls 1,600m

Maddie Huecker is attempting to double back in the 1,600m after the elite 800m, but she will have a great field with her pushing for sub 4:50.

Sophomore Reese Dalton (The Covenant School, VA) holds a personal best of 4:49 from the Gus Lacy Track Classic on April 23rd, proving she is in elite shape.

Another Virginia sophomore, Allie Zealand (Pacers Home School), is gunning for glory and shooting for her first sub 4:50 performance. She ran 4:51 for the full mile indoors to win adidas Track Nationals.

Another out of state star in Oliva Haas (Blue Mountain, PA) is in this field and she holds a 4:54 personal best. Haas will be making North Carolina familiar territory as the senior is committed to run for NC State in the fall!

Caroline Murrell (Northwood) has flown under the radar this season, but she is ready to mix it up with the best of the best. She cruised to a 5:17 win at the Central 3A Conference Championship this week.

One big name to watch is Lillian Nasta (Cuthbertson). With her teammates making the trip up north to Penn Relays, Nasta is staying home to represent her Cavalier squad in the 1,600m. She is coming off a 4:59 full mile run at Mount Tabor Mile, and is now ready to get herself a major victory.

Prediction: Nasta establishes herself as one of the best in the state, taking the win in sub 4:55.
