The reigning Indoor and Outdoor track 1600m State Champion is on a quest for his first Cross Country state title. In 2018, Thompson went into the state meet hot after a regional victory over Atkins' Ben Armentrout.
At the state meet he went wire to wire with First Flight's Zach Hughes for the XC title but fell just short. The North Lincoln boys managed to win the Team Championship behind Thompson's performance.
He ran a 9:26 in the 3200m at Dash for Doobie and finished 3rd at the Indoor State Championship. Thompson only ran one 3200m during the outdoor season, he ran 9:32 for the full 2 Mile which converts to 9:28 over 3200m. He focused on the 800m and 1600m during Outdoor Track and was very dominant in doing so.
He won his Regional in both events and helped lead his North Lincoln squad to a Regional Title. Thompson won the 1600m at the State Championship and finished 5th in the 800m. Like in Cross Country, his North Lincoln squad were the team State Champions! Thompson looks like he is gearing up for a fantastic senior campaign.
