The 2018 2A 3200m State Champion is back for his senior campaign where he looks to capture his first cross country state title. Armentrout finished 4th last season at Ivey Redmon at 2018 cross country states but really broke out late March at adidas Raleigh Relays where he ran a NC No. 8 for the season time of 9:14.
His 9:14 will be the 3rd best returning time in the state. The rising senior ran a personal best of 4:22 in the 1600m at the NCRunners Border Clash in June, so Armentrout should be in great shape coming into the season. He will be looking to dip under the 16 minute barrier for a 5k for the first time this season but should have no issue doing so.
He will have some tight competition for the 2A state title with Zach Hughes (First Flight) and Jason Thomson (North Lincoln). The race for the 2019 2A cross country state title may be the best one of the day come November with Armentrout up front and in serious contention.
