Jenovah Mckiver Versus Josh Hardin
On year ago Josh Hardin (Ashe County) won the state title as a sophomore in 47.99. To think he might not return as the favorite one year later would have been a ridiculous thought. But Jenovah Mckiver (T.W. Andrews) has had a tremendous season thus far. He's run 47.89 in the 400m this year as well as 21.82 in the 200m, both from the regional meet.
There's no doubt that we're yet to see the best from Hardin this outdoor season. He won the 200m and 400m at the regional meet in 22.75 and 50.93. His seasons best are 49.59 and 22.22, though he is yet to lose either event. I'd say similar to a year ago, we're going to see a significant time drop as Hardin gets competition at the state meet from Mckiver. Unfortunately, Hardin will end up in lane 1 in the 200m and lane 8 in the 400m. Mckiver will be in lane 1 in both events.
I'd be surprised if both of these boys seasons best didn't see a big drop after a major battle on Friday.
