Omar McBride (Apex)
Omar McBride certainly proved himself last week at Apex Relays. He broke a 39 year old meet record clearing 7-0 for the first time in 2019. McBride cleared 7-0.25 twice during his junior year and is reigning New Balance Outdoor High Jump Champion. This weekend he'll compete in both the High Jump and Triple Jump. He jumped 47-2.35 last week to give him a NC#2 mark in the event. McBride is one of four boys in the country over 7-0 and is currently tied for US#2. He'll have to face off with defending Bojangles Classic High Jump Champion and NCHSAA 4A rival Idris Bernard (Mallard Creek) to take the win this weekend.
