Hobbton senior Lakelyn Bass was involved in a serious car incident on Saturday that will keep her out of this weekends state championships and some time beyond that. Bass was expected to score in 4 events this weekend and was a major contender in the 1A/2A Pole Vault where she holds a season best of 11-3.
We are relieved to tell you that though Lakelyn was involved in a serious car accident this past Saturday evening, she is expected to fully recover. She has 2 fractured vertebrae, and will be out for some time, but her life was spared and we are very grateful. She is able to walk and is in good spirits.
We wish Lakelyn a speedy recovery. She has been great in all the jumps throughout her high school career and was the NCHSAA 1A Outdoor Pole Vault State Champion last spring. Keep her in your thoughts while competing at the state meet this weekend and hope to see her back at the outdoor championships this spring.
