Falon Spearman (Providence Day) & Riley Newkirk (Western Guilford)
The future era of hurdles is upon us in two freshman studs Falon Spearman (Providence Day) and Riley Newkirk (Western Guilford). The two have run 8.31 and 8.33 respectively and rank NC#4 and #6 overall this indoor season. They're also the top two freshman 55m Hurdles in the nation by over .3 seconds.
Just last summer Spearman won 3 AAU National Club Championships outdoors in the 100m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles and the high jump as well as a 100m Hurdle National Championship at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships. Her Middle School PRs in those events are 13.97, 5-1 and 27.79 where she was dominate for her age running with Charlotte Heat.
Riley Newkirk ran 8.29 last year with Platinum Sports in the 55m Hurdles as well at 14.76 for the Outdoor 100m Hurdles. Newkirk was also the Guilford County 100m Dash Champion with a season best of 12.90, though her PR is 12.47.
