Green Hope Boys - 4A

Green Hope was powered by the depth of their distance squad.  We've seen distance heavy programs win before, but normally on the back of one star athlete.  This was different.  9 different runners in the 1600, 1000 and 3200.  All placed within the top 6 with a Green Hope runner winning each event.  Ian Delgado (1000), Finn McBride (1600) and Peyton Barish (3200) left the meet win individual state titles.  Barish and teammate Ryan Kemper were able to go 1-2 in the 3200 pretty much locking up the team title if it wasn't already.  They were able to score 21 points from the 1000, 17 points from the 1600 and 21 points from the 3200.  They also were able to win the 4x800 and 4x400 relays and also had a big performance from Benjamin Trubey in the Long and Triple Jump placing 6th and 7th as well as Carter Pehr in the Pole Vault taking 5th.

Green Hope scored 88 points with Southeast Raleigh taking 2nd with 50 points.  Cary and Garner were just off the podium with 44.50 and 41 points respectively.

The depth of this distance program is unreal.  A guy in Thomas Vo, who was their 8th man in cross country is able to finish 6th at the indoor state meet in the 3200.  There likely won't ever be another program capable of sweeping the distance events with three different athletes.
