On Saturday Nevada Mareno had the privileged to represent the US at the BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country International Challenge in Edinburgh, England! This race holds both a Junior and Senior level team for the US, Great Britain, and the rest of Europe competing as one continent.
The team of six junior girls in composed of the top high schoolers, and college freshman that are selected by a committee. Mareno finished as the top US athlete and third overall leading the US team to a narrow 1 point victory over Great Britain!
Mareno becomes North Carolina's top finisher at this event besting Ryen Frazier's 6th place finish from 2015, Her time for 4K was 14:08, just two seconds out of 2nd and 12 seconds off the win!
Mareno will make her indoor track debut this week in a loaded 1K field that is looking to break the high school national record this weekend at the VA Showcase on the new Liberty track this weekend! You can watch the event LIVE on FloTrack through this link!
