On Saturday, McAlpine Greenway will host the 2011 Foot Locker South Regional, a qualifier to the Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego on December 10th.  The field could potentially consist of runners from 14 states, Puerto RIco, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and even families of U.S. soliders stationed overseas.  There will be races for each grade (freshman, sophomore, etc) as well as youth, open, and masters races, making this an event for all ages and a great place to get everyone in the family involved in the races.  The main focus of the day, though, will be the two seeded races where the elite high school runners are participating.  The top 10 runners in each race will qualify to go to Balboa Park in San Diego in two weekends for what many consider to be the premier cross country event in the country.
