DURHAM, N.C. - Senior sprinter Natalie Pearson earned a first and second place finish at the 2011 Duke Invitational on Saturday, winning the 200 meters with a time of 24.14 and then finishing two-hundredths of a second from winning the 100 meters at Wallace Wade Stadium.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field squads will be in action this weekend at the Duke Invitational which will take place at Wallace Wade Stadium. The meet begins Friday morning and continues all day on Saturday.

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Freshman Milan Ristic took first place in the 100 meters and the long jump to highlight UNC Asheville's performance at the Beynon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic Saturday afternoon at Western Carolina. Ristic also finished second in the 110 Hurdles as he enjoyed an excellent day for the Bulldog men's track and field squad.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville senior sprinter Natalie Pearson was named as the Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. The honor was announced by the league office Wedensday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior sprinter Natalie Pearson continued her outstanding start to her final season at UNC Asheville with two first-place finishes at the Charlotte 49er Classic Saturday afternoon at the Irwin Belk Track Stadium. Pearson finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 11.59. She also took first place in the 200 meters with a time of 23.85.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Simon Haake took first in the javelin Friday to highlight UNC Asheville's performance in the first day of the Charlotte 49er Classic at the Irwin Belk Track on Charlotte's campus.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Liberty's Sam Chelanga has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while Natalie Pearson of UNC Asheville earned the Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Meanwhile, Liberty's Anthony Galeone was tabbed the Men's Field Athlete of the Week, with Nikki Roseberry of Radford earning the Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the League announced today.

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Natalie Pearson finished first in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Palmetto Classic Friday afternoon as the UNC Asheville Track and Field squads opened the Outdoor season. Pearson won the 100 meters with a time of 11.87 and then took the 200 meters with a time of 24.36. The senior sprinter went to the NCAA Nationals last year in the 200 meters.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams will open the 2011 season Friday at the Palmetto Classic Friday at the Park West facility in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The meet will be hosted by the College of Charleston.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville Women's Indoor Track and Field team stunned much of the Big South on Friday as the Bulldogs finished third at the conference meet with 62 points. Fourth-year coach Jesse Norman was named Coach of the Year on the women's side as he led Asheville to its highest finish ever in the Big South Indoor Meet.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville Women's Indoor Track and Field squad scored 13 points on the first day of the Big South Conference Indoor Meet at Clemson Thursday. The highlight of the day for the Bulldogs had to be the second-place finish from the Distance Medley team. The four-person team of Clair Powell, Alyska Kalmeijer, Sarah Gentry and Kylie Smith posted a time of 12:27.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field squads will journey to Clemson on Thursday and Friday for the Big South Conference meet. Both Bulldog teams are hoping to build on the momentum from their meet two weeks ago in Chapel Hill at the Dick Taylor Invitational. Asheville had a host of student-athletes set personal bests that day.

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field squads competed this weekend at the Niswonger Invitational at East Tennessee State. Freshman Milan Ristic continued his solid rookie campaign. He finished sixth in a very strong field in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42.

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams are back in action starting today at the Niswonger Invitational at East Tennessee State. The two-day event will see over 1,500 athletes from close to 90 teams compete as the Bulldogs face off against several teams from the Atlantic Sun, Big South and Southern Conference.

  decorated runner Adrian Etheridge, signing with UNC-Asheville means leaving a tradition to start another at her new school. The cross country runner has been a state champ three of her four years at ORHS but the Bulldogs are a relatively new cross country program and had just what Etheridge was looking for in a school. "I've known since July (I wanted to go to UNC-Asheville)," she said. "I'm planning on majoring in art with a concentration in photography. Art is one of their top five majors. CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Freshman Milan Ristic continued his impressive rookie campaign as he won the 60-meter hurdles at the Kent Taylor - UNC Run for the Kids Invitational Saturday at the Eddie Smith Field House. Ristic outlasted his competitors with a time of 8.40, the second fastest time in school history.

BOONE, N.C. - Sophomore distance runner Melanie Kulesz won the mile as she edged out teammate Emma Bussard to highlight UNC Asheville's performance at the Appalachian Open Saturday at the Holmes Center. Kulesz finished first with a time of 5:21.09, just ahead of Bussard's 5:21.72 who came in second place. Clair Powell took sixth in the event as the Bulldogs dominated this event on the day.
