PLEASANT, S.C. - Natalie Pearson finished first in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Palmetto Classic Friday afternoon as the UNC Asheville Track and Field squads opened the Outdoor season. Pearson won the 100 meters with a time of 11.87 and then took the 200 meters with a time of 24.36. The senior sprinter went to the NCAA Nationals last year in the 200 meters.

BOONE, N.C. - Sophomore distance runner Melanie Kulesz won the mile as she edged out teammate Emma Bussard to highlight UNC Asheville's performance at the Appalachian Open Saturday at the Holmes Center. Kulesz finished first with a time of 5:21.09, just ahead of Bussard's 5:21.72 who came in second place. Clair Powell took sixth in the event as the Bulldogs dominated this event on the day.
